Beware: International Students targeted in telephone fraud.
Indian Nationals targeted in particular.
VERY important information for International Students regarding telephone fraud. Please read the following and contact contact the International Student Immigration Service (ISIS) at LSE for advice at firstname.lastname@example.org or come to the Student Services Centre reception Monday to Friday, 10 -4pm if you are at all worried.
We have been informed by two LSE students who have been contacted by a group of criminals pretending to be the UK Border Agency and asking for details and for money. The caller said there were some details that were incorrect or missing from their immigration record and that they would be deported. This is a criminal hoax and the indications are that it is based in India.
The UK Border Agency will not contact students directly and they will never ask you to submit money to them. If you are contacted by a group saying they are UKBA, do NOT give them any information, do NOT agree to send them money and please contact security at LSE. You can contact security by phone on extension 2000 (from a phone within the School) or call 020 7955 6200. Alternatively you can contact Richard Mulcahy at email@example.com
For more info see the school website.
